Light Manufacturing
Business Consulting for Light Manufacturing
A shop floor forgives very little. When output is capped, the cause is usually one constraint everybody has learned to work around instead of fix.
Who it is for. Fabrication, assembly, specialty manufacturing, small production facilities, and owner-led manufacturers.

The pattern
Why growth stalls for light manufacturing businesses
Throughput is capped and nobody agrees where the real constraint sits
Job costing is a guess, so you learn a run lost money after it shipped
Supervisors keep the floor moving but cannot hold standards without you
You are the one who unsticks every schedule and every quality problem
What we do about it
How LINX helps
We find the real production constraint and work it: throughput, scheduling, and costing that tells you what a job earns before you quote the next one. Then we build the supervisor layer and the planning routines so the floor holds its standards on a day you are not in the building.
Where the gap is hands rather than judgment, LINX Leverage staffs planning, purchasing, and back office support, so you are not forced into a full-time hire before the volume justifies one.
Fit
Is this right for your business?
A strong fit
- You are owner-led, typically 5 to 50 employees and $500K to $10M in revenue.
- You want a real thinking partner, not a one-time strategy deck.
- You want help getting the work done, not advice on its own.
- Location is not a constraint. We work virtually from Omaha.
Not the right fit
- You want advice with no help executing.
- You are looking for the cheapest possible option.
- You want a strategy deck rather than changes that hold.
If it is not a fit, we will tell you that on the first call and point you somewhere useful.

Asked and answered
We already run lean. Is this the same thing?
Lean is a set of tools, and most shops we meet have used some of them. The work here is deciding which constraint is actually costing you output, then building the supervision and the costing so the fix holds after the improvement week ends.
Our margins move with material prices. Can consulting help that?
It helps with what you control: quoting off real job costs, scheduling that protects the constraint, and the scrap and rework you are paying for twice. Material prices move either way. What changes is whether you know your number before you quote.
How much time does this take off the floor?
An hour a week with you, plus short sessions with the supervisors we are developing. The point is to give the floor time back, not to run a project that competes with production.
